Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.
The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time coach Cervara.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.
It is Medvedev's initial championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.
The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at 21 various events.
"For the first time I'm at a competition with my children together, so to get a championship is really nice," stated world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in Halle previously this season.
The player's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was finished.
However the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to go ahead.
Both players swapped break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his initial ATP Tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.
He saved 4 initial break points in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
